'Learning from Faith' DVD
Early Years film part 1


The foundation stage describes the phase of a child's education from the age of 3 to the end of reception at the age of 5. Whilst Religious Education is statutory for all pupils registered on the school roll, this statutory requirement does not extend to nursery classes in maintained schools.

Religious Education is, therefore, not a legal requirement at this stage but may nevertheless form a valuable part of the educational experience of children in this age group. Helpful advice on this is offered in the non-statutory guidance below, and on this website.
