Using the DVDs

The DVD "Faith makes a difference" was sent to all Birmingham schools in June 2008.
It contains 48 films (covering the 24 Spiritual and Moral Dispositions) to resource the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2007, plus 2 professional development films (primary and secondary).

Each disposition has an initial and an advanced film. The advanced film offers more in-depth material. Often the advanced option also includes alternative material or more faiths are represented. For these dispositions, a second synopsis is shown.

Primary school users are strongly advised to preview advanced films to ensure their suitability since they are designed for Key Stage 3 and above. Younger children are frequently featured in ‘initial’ films.

The films have deliberately sparse commentary to allow for the widest use. Mostly, the people of faith speak for themselves. The links below lead to background notes which teachers and pupils may find helpful to contextualise viewing.

Teachers who are unfamiliar with the concept of using the dispositions as a starting point will find 2 professional development films on the DVD.

A DVD, "KS1 Faith makes a difference", has been produced.
There are 10 films to use with Key Stage One pupils, resourcing the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education, plus a Primary CPD film.

The DVD sets out to put the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education in context with Early Years.
